There is no need....

to be at work at 6 am. Yet, this is what I've been doing and what I will be doing all week. It's ok though, it's just 5 days so I think I can handle it. I'm working at one of the stores in Plano which is actually really interesting to me. But I'm sure it's not interesting to you.

I've tried, unsuccessfully, to think of something else to write. However, since nothing is coming to me at the moment, I'm just gonna give up and go take a nap (or work for the next 9 hours).

Maui weddings with David Robinson

Our trip to Maui is sadly coming to an end. We've had a great time doing a lot of nothing, though somehow this has worn me out. It's been great having a semi-local to show us around....secret beaches, half price drinks, comp'd snorkeling trips, etc. Highlights of the trip include: beach hopping from resort to resort, driving out to Hana, hiking to a super secluded beach (and falling on lava rock that cut me up - doh!), meeting new people at bar-b-q's thrown in our honor....the list could go on. The best part was seeing an old friend and catching up.

Today Lance and I hung alone on Wailea beach in front of the Four Seasons resort. We spent the day reading, swimming, drinking, and occasionally napping. We decided to stay out until sunset, and as we were relaxing taking it all in, a wedding party came through. And who was part of that party? David Robinson! We both pretended not to see him, although I was gawking behind my sunglasses. He was literally 5 feet away from me, yet I turned my head away and directed my gaze towards the sunset. Lucky for Lance my camera was out of batteries, otherwise I might have snapped a photo. So there, a vacation trip complete with celebrity appearances. Who could ask for more??

ahhh...

after 10 hours of travel, we're in Maui!! Our flight was supposed to only be 5 1/2 hours from LA, but we sat on the runway for 2 hours. Mechanical issues that they thought were kinda important before we started flying over water. Thanks American Airlines! Good thing I took my ambien, which knocked me out those 2 hours on the runway!

I'm so happy go be here and even happier that my good friend Amanda is a concierge at the Four Seasons. She's hooked us up with dinner reservations tonight.. and now i gotta go because lance is asking me to hurry up!

mahalo!

I heart cupcakes

We are FINALLY all moved into the new house!! It was a hectic / frantic / insane Monday trying to get all the paperwork signed and bending over backwards for our stupid lenders, but it's finally done! Now the arduous task of unpacking all of our crap. I thought I had done a decent job of de-cluttering, but after unpacking my closet last night, I realized I have way more stuff that could have gone to Goodwill. Oh well.

My Mom and my sister came up to help us get unpacked. They are so much better at arranging furniture than I will ever be (i have the attention span of an ant when it comes to stuff like that).

Highlight of the move: mom unpacking the kitchen - gets to my phallic-shaped cupcake tins (don't judge, they were for a bachelor party!), turning the tin over and over (i think she was trying to work out in her head what exactly the shape was), my brother snickering cause he realized immediately what it is, and my sis saying "wow, that's embarrassing". Mom finally snapped and just said "oh, where do you want these??"

OOC

Since most things in my life right now are mostly out of my control (and therefore, out of control), I thought I"d make some changes to something I totally control - my blog! I got tired of the standard template, so I've copied someone else's and am really digging it. Too bad I don't know html, otherwise I'd totally have this thing tricked out.

Feedback is not encouraged.

...and the boxes keep a 'comin

I would love to tell y'all that my life has been SO busy and that's why I haven't had time to blog. However, you all know me too well and know that even when my life is at a total standstill, I still don't blog. At any rate, I really have been busy, but am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

For one, our house is sold, negotians have taken place, repairs have been made, and we're all set to close this Thursday. The buyer of our house seems like a really cool guy who has been great to work with - I hope he does fabulous things with this house.

Second, our new home has been selected, inspected, negotiated for repairs (like pulling teeth with the damn seller) and is set to close this Friday. With any luck, all paperwork will be in place and we'll be in our new house by Saturday.

This has been a huge learning experience, and I'm sure I'll forget all the lessons when we buy our next home (because hopefully we'll be staying in this next house for many many years).

In case you're curious about what I've been stressing over, here are a few crummy pics I took of our new house. It's really much better in person, and if you're lucky, you'll get an invite to the house-warming. ;-)

Disappointment abounds

My cup runeth over with disappointment today. First, I go to the breakroom for coffe. NO CREAMER is in the fridge. I tried to swallow the bitter coffee withough creamer and it just wasn't working. So I go downstairs for coffee and since I'm starving, a banana nut muffin (even though Lance is appalled at how fattening they are). I get my vanilla soy latte and a muffin and head back upstairs. But damn, I need to get my security card out of my purse...and the dang zipper won't open. Just as I'm getting it loose - there goes my coffee ALL OVER THE FREAKING ELEVATOR FLOOR. #%%^&% &%$#@!! Ok, fine, I can deal with that, but when I get to eating my muffin, I realize it is not a banana nut muffin but a raisin muffin!!! I HATE RAISINS!
